Announcing the 14th Annual Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance May 2-3, 2009

PRLog (Press Release) – Feb 27, 2009 – Houston, TX- On May 2-3, 2009, the largest collection of classic cars and vintage wooden boats in the United States will be on display at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX for the 14th Annual Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance. This marks the 1st major event to take place in Bay Area Houston since Hurricane Ike, and should prove to be an enriching event for the entire family.

Proceeds for this year’s event will go to the Boys and Girls Harbor, whose mission is to provide healthy, comprehensive care for children who are experiencing family hardship, neglect, abandonment or abuse. Additional proceeds will be donated to the educational efforts of Houston PBS/Channel 8.

This year’s event will see the return of automotive icon Carroll Shelby. At 86 years old, Shelby has done it all: world-class racecar driver, innovative automotive designer, a heart transplant recipient and sponsor of charitable foundations. Shelby is a true American icon that has changed the face of automotive racing and design, offering up some of the industry’s most beautiful racing machines. This year’s event will feature one of almost every vehicle Shelby has worked on throughout his career, including the always popular and sought after Cobra. Join us in celebrating his life and times, and shake hands with a true living legend.

Educational and inspirational, Keels & Wheels is an event for people all ages and backgrounds. This is a great chance to immerse yourself in Pre and Post-War automotive and marine history.
