Mental Health Issues are often hidden illnesses, whether out of shame or fear. This makes the need for an anonymous avenue of support for those dealing with mental health problems very real and very large.
Sean founded Get Mental Help, Inc. after being diagnosed with PTSD and Depression as a result of Childhood Sexual Abuse. He purchased Mental Health Matters in 2001 shortly before one of the greatest tragedies this country has ever faced and saw the need for information about dealing with Depression and Anxiety. As the need has grown, so has the website and Mr. Bennick’s dedication to it.
The signs of Depression can be varied, watch for some of these signs. Changes in behavior and mood – they may talk or act very negatively toward themselves or others. Withdrawing from family and friends – they may hide from the world instead of facing it. A change in appetite – they may eat too much or too little. They may complain of aches and pains. They may begin abusing drugs or alcohol as a way to try and numb their pain.
Depression is very serious. If you feel a loved one is suffering with Depression, please speak to your doctor or a mental health professional and get help.
