Surrey Personal Trainer, Rick Kaselj, to Teach Exercise Rehabilitation Courses at the Douglas College

Surrey, BC - February 26, 2009 - With more and more of us pursuing an active lifestyle, exercise professionals need to prepare themselves to work with people who have sustained injuries.  While exercise professionals are trained to work with healthy individuals, they often have minimal training to work with previously injured clients.  The Sports Institute of Douglas College has invited Rick Kaselj to help educate exercise professionals in British Columbia.  Rick will share his extensive knowledge and experience on designing effective exercise programs for individuals recovering from injury.  The Sports Institute will be hosting two 4-hour courses by Rick Kaselj: Exercise Rehabilitation of the Knee (February 28) and Balance Training for the Rehab Client (February 28).

Exercise Rehabilitation of the Knees

The knee is the most frequently injured joint in both daily activities and sport.  It is typically injured in one of two ways – by accident, or gradually through years of wear and tear from overuse and strain.  This course will help the fitness and rehabilitation professional better understand the knee, become familiar with common injuries of the knee, and learn exercises to prevent and rehabilitate knee injuries.

When: Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 8:45 am to 1:00 pm

Where: Douglas College (Royal Ave & 8th St) - New Westminster , BC

More Info: Visit - http://www.douglas.bc.ca/programs/continuing-education/pr...

Balance Training for the Rehab Client

When it comes to recovery from an injury, the importance of range of motion, strength and function as indicators of good health are well known. What is often overlooked, however, is the importance of balance.  Balance is important in the recovery of ankle, knee, hip and back injuries, and is an important part of an older adult program to prevent falls and fractures.

When: Saturday, November 28, 2009 from 1:15 pm to 5:30 pm

Where: Douglas College (Royal Ave & 8th St) - New Westminster , BC
