NEW BUSINESS HELPS FIGHT FLOODS
Buckinghamshire, UK, 26th February 2009
One in Five households is at risk of flooding according to The Environment Agency's statistics and recently, local residents and businesses have become much more aware of the risks. It is not just those close to waterways, but the danger from flash floods and poor drainage is now more evident than ever, presenting itself several times a year in some areas.
Having personally suffered from flooding in 2002, Phil Dale knew that the real cost of water damage went well beyond that covered by an insurance policy:" We were only flooded by an inch and a half of water but the trauma of moving the family into temporary accommodation for four months whilst repairs were being made together with the knowledge that there was always the risk of another flood, really drove me to look for a solution"
Having researched the different products available to deal with flooding, Phil found an innovative and easy to use product called InstantSandbags. The product is a military style jute sandbag with a high technology polymer inside; which means it goes from flat to a full sized product in just 5 minutes.
InstantSandbags are flat packed and then soaked in water to expand to the size of a normal sandbag. Once they have been used they can be recycled and are fully biodegradable. A box of InstantSandbags can be stored in a drawer and are available when needed.
Phil commented; “Most homes and businesses are at greater risk from flood than burglary and my personal experiences motivated me to find something that is easier to use and store than a traditional sandbag”.
InstantSandbags is a rapidly expanding local business which expects to establish a new manufacturing unit in the area next year servicing the immediate community and other flood risk areas nationally.
