PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 26, 2009 – The New Zealand government has announced an extension of up to 1-month before section 92 of the copyright amendment act comes into force. This section of the act makes ISP’s responsible for disconnecting customers who use file sharing software.
This act will affect those who use file sharing for a legitimate purpose. Hackers and pirates will be too clever to get caught. They will be able to use local internet cafes which could end by severely affecting those businesses. “This is a tough time for the government to be introducing this law, we are in the middle of a global recession and it will cost ISP’s money to carry out this overseeing. Not only is it the cost of overseeing, but loss of customers.” Says Hamish Webb owner of NZFileSharing.com. source: FPR NZFileSharing.com tells people how to bypass the new overseeing that ISP’s will be doing. “Many people use file sharing for legal purposes, such as sharing shareware. Shareware gives small businesses and programmers a chance to compete with the major software development companies who use big distribution chains and heavy advertising dollars to deliver an often inferior product.” Said Webb.
