For the first time ever, one special needs graduating girl in Palm Beach or Broward Country high school can win the Ultimate Prom Giveaway. The package will be awarded to the winner at the Sparkle of Life – Women of Power & Play, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Boca Raton at Carmen’s Restaurant at the Bridge Hotel.
“It will be a memory for a lifetime to share with family and friends. Our goal is to create something worthwhile in the area of inclusion and the special needs community. We want to educate people about different disabilities, as well as making sure that people understand that because a person has a special need, does not mean that they cannot enjoy life ,” said Lisa Hamilton-Johnson, President of TLC Mobility Foundation. The Ultimate Prom Giveaway will include limousine service, custom jewelry set, prom dress, hair, make-up, manicure, prom ticket and more.
The winning girl will be chosen based upon their original 500-word essay. Submissions are encouraged to be creative! Throw out your ideas of the 500-word essay and think outside the box – we invite you to interpret the term “essay” as loosely as you choose. Feel free to submit a story, poem, or even a song that answers the appropriate question. Candidates are asked to answer: “How You Can Be The Change In Your Community You Want To See.” Winners will be chosen based on creativity of ideas, quality of thought, writing style, factual accuracy and mechanics. The Ultimate Prom Giveaway Contest runs through March 24, 2009.
