The kind youngsters will be giving up their time for victims of the Gaza conflict which lasted 23 days, claiming 1400 lives, a total of 5450 wounded and over 14 000 homes were either part or fully destroyed.(Figures obtained from UN Survey).
The money raised will be sent to Gaza through The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities (which is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.)
The event has been organised by young people from the Abbasi Youth Committee from the Clifton road mosque in Moseley, in conjunction with The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities and The Council of European Jamaats.
Organiser Ali Dharamshi said: " We want to make every penny count and are urging the people of Birmingham to spare their change for this valuable cause. We aim to help the children who are now orphans, women who are now widows, and the elderly without shelter in the midst of winter. We want to raise as much as possible to provide medicine and food to those in desperate need.”
