Collingswood, N.J. -- Local computer expert Anthony Mongeluzo knows about cutting costs in a depressed economy. He has to trim the budget even though his company continues to grow.

But Mongeluzo, president of Pro Computer Service, which operates in four states, says anyone with a full-time IT person is a candidate for saving money by outsourcing the job.

Outsourcing IT functions almost always saves the company money, says Mongeluzo. He's so confident about this that he will hand over a $250 check to any company if he fails to reduce their IT costs by 25 percent. "All I ask is that they are honest about their current IT costs," says Mongeluzo. "Once I see the figures, I'm confident we can reduce their expenses substantially."

While cutting costs is important, outsourcing IT functions offers benefits many companies never consider. For example:

•   Support by qualified personnel. Some companies might have one or two people who operate their computer network but they're really not specialists. Either network tasks take longer than necessary or the IT person fails to complete the task properly or with the greatest efficiency.  Outsourcing allows you to get the best person for the specific task with virtually no downtime.
•   Using a team approach. People like teams because they remove the need for one person to completely "control" the network. A team approach eliminates sick or vacation time. There is no, "Bob is out at a meeting today."
•   Access to wider experience. Many in-house IT people live in a fishbowl. They are familiar with only their system. Lack of exposure to other systems keep them from being up-to-date. By not seeing how other companies run their IT departments, they are far less likely to discover creative solutions for reducing costs or making the system more efficient.

Mongeluzo started Pro Computer Service in his parents' home at the age of 22, in 2002. Today, he has three locations and 19 employees and operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.  His company has won numerous awards for being among the fastest-growing companies in the Delaware Valley during the past two years.
