For almost three decades the Sara Mique label has provided thousands of women with uniquely elegant evening wear for their most special occasions. Designs for special occasion dresses include non traditional bridal wear for destination weddings, beach weddings, mother of the bride dresses, cocktail and black tie evening wear.
Through the years the fun, feminine and slightly sexy charm of the Sara Mique creations have captured the hearts of women of many ages and sizes, including plus size women. Women have loved both the uniqueness of the dresses, as well as the ability to customize their garments' size and color. The garments are individually cut in beautiful and unique laces, embroideries and velvets, sewn by a professional seamstress and hand tinted by a textile artist. They have the comfortable, body skimming fit of a leotard. Due to the gossamer drape of the Sara Mique creations, their flattery comes to life off the hanger and on the female form where they take their shape.
Sara Mique was born out of a dress that Joan “Sara Mique” Lamonica had made for herself on a trip to Rio de Janeiro. It was the first evening dress she felt was just her style. It was unique, beautiful, fun, funky, feminine, romantic and a little sexy. When her friends, asked her for similar dresses, she thought that many women would also love her design. Lamonica then went on to make her first sale to Henry Bendel on Fifth Avenue and the rest is a New York fashion designer’s history.
In November 2008, Sara Mique opened its retail showroom in Coconut Creek, Florida. The all white space with glass floor, beautiful chandelier, white leather furniture and a complimentary wine and espresso bar is unique for Coconut Creek. “The showroom is a lab for testing new styles and gives our team the opportunity to learn what the customers really want and need. We believe this information will help us provide the service and styling to specialty stores that carry Sara Mique” says Lamonica.
The new Florida team is a mix of both young and mature associates. This brings an interesting perspective to the design process, as they have added a new colorful Floridian casual look to their current elegant evening wear line.
The Sara Mique team is now ready for a completely new adventure as they bring a touch of Paris to South Florida.
