The crackers are a creation of Stefan Uch, an experienced chef that has cooked for the Dalai Lama, James Brown, among others. The idea of the crackers originated from Uch’s desire to make something his wife could eat as a replacement for the yeast the doctor had eliminated from her diet. Uch put together a traditional German bread crust and added some spices to enhance the flavor. The crackers received a lot of positive feedback from his wife, friends, and colleagues. This was the turning point for Uch to venture into becoming an entrepreneur.
The Crackerman Crackers are thin with a slight crunch and have organic flaxseed scattered on the surface. In addition, it contains sesame seeds, fennel seed, and healthy spices like cumin and coriander.
Studies have revealed that the ingredients mentioned above can be beneficial to the human body. Valerie Houghton, RD, LD explains, “organic flaxseed contains Omega 3 fatty acids which have shown to help reduce the risk of heart disease and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis.” Houghton also commented on the health benefits of sesame seeds and fennel seeds. “Sesame seeds contain minerals such as copper, manganese and calcium essential for good bone health, while fennel seeds are a good source of micro minerals such as phosphorous, potassium, and copper.” When asked about the benefits of the micro minerals, Houghton expressed the following, “copper is used in blood formation, and phosphorous and potassium is used to help keep muscles functioning properly.”
