MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, Feb. 11, 2009 – Richard Moody of event planning service IamMoody.com has teamed up with Sunny’s Hair and Wigs for a night to remember celebrating Black History Month.
Black History Month was first celebrated in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson, who chose February because it marked the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, two people he believed greatly influenced the lives and social condition of African-Americans.
The event will honor the legacy of the great leaders both past and present who overcame discrimination and helped to advance civil rights. The night starts at 6 p.m. with a social time, complementary refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.
The program kicks off at 7 p.m. and will include performances by Esera Tuaolo, Jamecia Bennet, Art of Dance Studio (performing two dance routines entitled "Roses" and "Finale"), spoken word, and brief educational pieces celebrating the origination of Black History Month and how it affects us today. KFAN personality Henry Lake will emcee the night.
Immediately after the program, Tuaolo, Bennet, Lake, and others will be available for a VIP meet-and-greet and social time.
