The MAR-JCC located at 18900 NE 25th Avenue, on the Sanford L. Ziff Campus will be alive with the sound of music and shopping! Jewish cultural Arts Theatre (J-CAT) and The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of  Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Sound of Music” by presenting it to you in a way you’ve never seen before! Don’t miss this world-renowned musical we all know and love. Be there for the opening night Gala and shop for a few of your favorite things at the J-CAT Cares Boutique. There may not be schnitzel with noodles, or door bells and sleigh bells, but there will be many wonderful vendors selling their wares. Jewelry, linens, clothing and other items will be available at this lovely annual boutique. Tickets for the show are on sale now or you can purchase them at the Boutique. A Positively Green Purim!
The 7th Annual Purim Verbena Carnival
Sunday, March 8, 11am-5pm

The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center will celebrate its 7th annual Verbena Purim Carnival at their Sanford L. Ziff Campus, located at 18900 NE 25th Avenue in North Miami Beach. This fabulous carnival, celebrates the holiday of Purim with an all-day event, including rides, a costume contest, and the infamous Tombola where (almost) everyone wins a prize! A Glatt Kosher Food Court will serve Fare that certainly surpasses any other Fair!  
The holiday is an affirmation of when good triumphs over evil, as we remember the fable of the cunning of King Ahaseuvarus’ wicked minister, Haman, who is overcome by the beautiful Queen Esther and her Uncle Mordechai.  Those seeking at that time, to destroy Persian Jewry were defeated and the holiday is commemorated with a joyous celebration. This year’s festivities will be garnished with a twist, a “Green” twist, as we continue our efforts in “Going Green”, including using paper table cloths, recycling, and vendor booths utilizing recyclable products. Unlimited carnival ride wrist bands will be available for purchase (along with individual tickets) at this fun-filled family event.

Tennis Fest 2009 at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC is a Winner!
Saturday & Sunday, March 14-15

The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center will host their 15th Annual Tennis Fest 2009 on their Sanford L. Ziff Campus, at theSoffer Tennis Center located at 18900 NE 25th Avenue in North Miami Beach. This prestigious event will be adorned with many decorated tennis celebrities such as Todd Martin & Aaron Krikstein, both of whom have played against and beaten such players as Andre Agassi, Borris Becker, Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg, Jim Courier and Michael Chang. This year’s event will begin on Saturday,  March 14, at 7pm with a Grand Pro-Am Auction and cocktail reception at Christine Lee’s at Gulfstream Park where Todd and Aaron will both be available to meet and share stories of their “Court Days.” The Grand Pro-Am Tournament (9:30am) and Junior Pro-Am Tournament (2pm), will follow on Sunday, March 15. Proceeds will benefit the MAR-JCC Scholarship Fund and the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Society in memory of Pat Goldfine, Lewis Ehrlich, and Donna Cerami.
