As Student Volunteering Week celebrates the work of young volunteers around the UK, from 23 February to 1 March, Lattitude Global Volunteering urges student volunteers to start thinking globally, and making a difference in communities around the world.
As part of this year’s theme, Student Volunteering Week is celebrating successes and, with over 35 years experience Lattitude has a lot to celebrate. Lattitude is a not for profit organisation, specialising in volunteering projects abroad for 17-25 year olds. Last year over 1,500 young people were assisted by Lattitude to take up the challenge and volunteer overseas.
A global network of placements includes conservation, caring, community, medical, sports coaching and teaching projects, in 20 destinations including Canada, Brazil, Malawi, South Africa and India. Lattitude can also make bursary and funding schemes available for those who might struggle to raise the funds on their own.
“Student Volunteering Week prompts young people to think about something they might not normally consider, such as global volunteering projects” says Richard McKenzie of Lattitude. “Our global volunteering projects offer the students the perfect opportunity to go out into the world and make a difference to other communities and to themselves.”
