This app provides an estimate of your carbon footprint (your personal contribution to global warming) and compares the number with that of the average US resident.
This green app calculates your carbon footprint based on a few simple questions (on car usage, home-energy usage and air travel).
It can use average US usage numbers for questions that you don't answer.
The app uses US govt numbers for carbon emission calculations
The app uses country-specific parameters to calculate carbon emissions from electricity usage and can also be used to compare the carbon emissions generated from electricity in different countries.
For instance, countries like Iceland, Paraguay, Ethiopia and Norway produce negligible carbon emissions because they generate electricity through renewable sources. Emissions due to electricity generation in some other countries are hundreds of times larger than the emissions in Iceland, Ethiopia etc.
The app increases public awareness of personal carbon footprints and the personal estimate provided by the app can help individuals identify the aspects of their lifestyles that contribute most to global warming.
