2009 Could Be Another Big Year For Severe Weather

Preparation For Severe Weather Should Begin Now

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Feb 21, 2009 – 2009 could be another record setting year for tornadoes and other severe weather. La Nina conditions have returned to the Pacific Ocean which is a widely accepted indicator of a higher than normal number of tornadoes in late winter and spring. This year is promising to be a productive year for storm chasers and researchers. Team MESO is anticipating an enhanced severe weather season.

MESO is preparing for their 2009 field research trip and storm chase that begins on May 2, 2009 in Kansas City, MO. MESO is comprised of atmospheric research scientists, engineers, media personnel, EMT professionals, engineers, and others who share a common goal of raising severe weather awareness everywhere.

MESO was founded in 1998 by a group of people who met on Internet bulletin boards who were seeking chase partners. This core group of seven people found that they had such a strong bond with the Great Plains, severe weather, and each other that they decided to do this every year. They subsequently founded MESO (the Multi-community Environmental Storm Observatory), a non-profit organization to raise severe weather awareness and promote weather safety.

To find out more about Team MESO, see the web site at http://www.mcwar.org or email MESO at info@mcwar.org.
