An exhibit of 20th Century fashions from the turn of the century and each decade following will be on display at the Charleston Antique Mall in Las Vegas, Nevada, starting in March.
The presentation will run for four weeks. The public is invited free of charge daily from March 22 through April 18.
Charleston Antique Mall, a popular Vegas' stop with locals and visitors alike, is located at 307 W. Charleston Blvd., in the downtown Las Vegas Art District. The opening date of the exhibit coincides with the mall's annual anniversary celebration.
A sneak peek at just some of garments and accessories in the future showing promises a very impressive display of antique, vintage and retro outer wear, bridal wear, day, evening, leisure and lingerie wear, and accessories.
Michele Tully, the mall's owner, said that while the majority of the pieces in the exhibit are women's fashions, men's styles and children's garments will also be represented.
Starting with late Victorian pieces, the exhibit will go on to include styles from the 1910-1920 decade, the ever-changing trends of the 1920's, the very fashionable 1930's and into the stylish 1940's. Some of the rare garments and accessories from the early eras will be on loan from private collectors.
With the currant rage for vintage and retro clothing, mid-century fashion designs and the iconic styles of the 1950's and 60's - Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn - will highlight the exhibit.
Disco fashions, mini and maxi hemlines, platform shoes, ethnic designs, all depict some of the 1970' styles included in the display. The big padded shoulders trend of the 1980's will be shown along with design styles of that period influenced by some of the well-known couture designers.
The glamourous contemporary designs and the glitzy craze of the 1990's will wind up the presentation of 100 years of fashion.
The exhibit committee is composed of several antique dealers with various backgrounds that encompass fashion design, expertise in retail trends, and collecting antique, vintage and retro style clothing.
