J.P. Daily was waiting to be hung for several citizens had been killed during the robberies that he and his gang had committed in New Mexico. While waiting, on a circuit judge to arrive, he came across an opportunity to escape. On the run, he holed up in a place to keep from freezing to death, and another opportunity came his way. He tried to save the life of an unknown man to find out the man looked like his own twin brother he never had. He took the man’s identity, by accident, to start a new life as a U.S. Marshal. However, the Judge knew of the family history of each of the names because he had given the two mothers away at their wedding.
