Innovative Company “Raises The Roof” For Canadian Manufacturer

Unique and cost efficient process proves best solution for building with inadequate clearance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 19, 2009 -
KITCHENER, Ontario...ROOFLIFTERS , an innovative company that rejuvenates low clear height commercial buildings by raising their roofs, today announced that they have completed a roof lifting project at the new pilot plant for ARISE Technologies in Kitchener, Ontario.  The roof lifting process will expand the building’s capacity by adding approximately 450,000 usable cubic feet to the property.

ARISE Technologies recently signed a 10-year lease with options for two additional five-year terms at the 68,000 square foot facility.  However, the building, in its original state did not have the clear height necessary to facilitate ARISE’s production requirements.  In order to acquire commitment on a long term lease, the owners decide to retrofit a 26,500 square foot portion of the building.  By raising the existing roof, while intact and with almost no demolition, the building was easily modified to meet the specific needs of a tenant.  The roof was raised from 28 feet clear to 45 feet clear in order to accommodate the expansion.

Mark Hopkins of Coldwell Banker Commercial Peter Benninger Realty in Kitchener, said of the roof raising process, “it’s offering many commercial property owners a cost effective way of adding value to older buildings; particularly during this economic  climate where clear height is a significant competitive advantage in larger commercial buildings.”

ROOFLIFTERS  ’ technology works by placing their patented hydraulic system at strategic locations underneath the roof structure.  When the hydraulic lifting posts are in place, the columns, all services, and other infrastructure are severed.  The posts then hydraulically lift the entire roof of the building at the rate of 6 to12 inches per hour. Once the roof reaches the desired new height, the structure’s existing walls are extended upward to enclose the building. The roof is then re-attached to the walls, columns are extended, and mechanical and electrical services are re-connected.

“We’re offering companies a quick end-to-end solution for expanding vertical space at a fraction of the cost of demolition and reconstruction,” said Marty Shiff, CEO of ROOFLIFTERS  .  “Additionally and perhaps most notably, this is a green process since we re-use 99% of the building’s original materials.”

“Our patented and proven technology has lifted more than 6 million square feet of roofs in the US and Canada,” added Shiff. “We are poised to rejuvenate older, low clear height buildings into newer, more modern facilities across North America.”

About ROOFLIFTERS

ROOFLIFTERS is an innovative company, based in Toronto, Canada and Miami, Florida, that rejuvenates older buildings by raising their existing roofs for vertical expansion. The ROOFLIFTERS patented hydraulic lift system has lifted more than 6 million square feet of roofs throughout North America.

Roof lifting is much less taxing on the environment than other methods of expansion for commercial and industrial properties. ROOFLIFTERS utilizes the entire existing structure for vertical expansion which results in almost no wasted construction materials and a much smaller environmental footprint.

Recent projects include a 250,000 square foot manufacturing structure in Bristol, Connecticut; a 72,000 square feet beverage warehouse in Toronto, Canada; and the Planter’s Peanut Distribution Facility, a 75,000 square foot building, also in Toronto, Canada.
