Since the election of President Obama, have we transcended race and culture?
How does this “transcending”
How does class and race impact the art in this show?
Please define “Black Artist”.
When did you first recognize you had this talent?
Please discuss the personal and universal themes in your work here.
Do you need outside appreciation of your work and, if so, to what extent?
How does one determine the value of art?
What levels of support need to be developed for Black artists and who is responsible for it?
Is self-expression done at the personal expense of the artist?
Please discuss how the aesthetics of the ruling class effects how art is perceived.
What is the art community’s, namely museums and galleries, obligation in supporting the diversity in artistic expression?
Why do you think so few Black artists receive invitations to show at local museums even though they both nationally and internationally known?
Where have you shown your work outside of the United States?
Please share some thoughts on the struggles you have experienced as a Black Artist.
The audience is invited to participate and questions are allowed during the discussion. The exhibition runs through February 26, 2009. This is a free event.
