Feb 18, 2009 – Fremont, CA – Spime Inc, is a Silicon Valley California based company and leading provider of white labeled location enabling technologies to the mobile world. The company provides unique value to its customers by offering a comprehensive suite of LBS solutions available on a turn-key or modular basis.
Spime has developed the next-generation LBS Widget Framework enabling developers to build and repurpose widgets with unique location intelligence that solves the complex LBS implementation challenges faced by mobile and embedded developers for Windows Embedded CE, Windows Mobile, WinXP/Vista devices. Spime’s LBS Widget Framework supports HTML, XML and Native OS Widgets enabling widgets developed on top of the framework with unique location intelligence. Non-LBS widgets are also supported. The Framework: 1. Bundles location-enabling components - Windows Mobile location API, JSR293 and a GPS Wi-Fi Positioning Client; 2. Is powered with all variations of turn-by-turn voice assisted Navigation (On-board, off-board & Hybrid); 3. Provides seamless native connectivity to a device’s native applications - contacts, address book, calendar, Email and SMS; as well as Connectivity to web-based contacts, i.e., Social Networks like Twitter. 4. Is powered with real-time location tracking functionality that is secure and authenticated, 5. Has service APIs to incorporate standards based content - Web 2.0, GeoRSS and XML. 6. Has user personalization capability for Opt-in location-based advertising for the entire widget pool. Widgets developed on the framework include Navigator, Twitter, Weather, Meeting Manager, Traffic, and Friend Finder with AOL IM integration, and others. The Widget Framework accelerates LBS application development and innovation by solving the interdependencies developers face with traditional LBS development. “The Framework gives developers easy access to map data, LBS geo-services like mapping, geo-coding, POI, routing from leading LBS platforms, plus Web 2.0 content, user-bases (contacts) from Social Networks and IMs, tracking and real turn-by-turn navigation services using Spime’s NavEngine, all within one unifying framework,” says Kris Kolodziej, CTO. The standardized widget framework comes with Developer Tools that plug-in to standard industry development environments (i.e., Visual Studio) and support XML, HTML, and Native OS widget development. “The Framework gives developers easy access to broader distribution of apps across a wide range of devices and OS platforms. And, the location and navigation enables the entire Widget Pool, which increases stickiness and reduces churn.,” adds Kolodziej. “We are pleased to work with partners like Spime to supply Microsoft Windows Embedded and Windows Mobile developers with simplified access to tools that help them deliver smart, connected, service oriented devices,” said Valerie Olague, Senior Partner Marketing Manager at Microsoft Corp. “Spime’s next-generation LBS Widget Framework, combined with Windows Embedded CE’s capabilities, ,provide location enabling components, voice assisted Navigation, tracking, content bundling and other features that reduce development costs and fuel the introduction of next generation devices to market faster.” Developers can email developers@spime.com to learn more and get started with the LBS Widget Framework Developer Tools. # # # Spime Inc., a Silicon Valley based California Corporation, is a provider and emerging development partner for companies in the LBS industry, including Software System and application providers, mobile operators, and mobile and consumer electronics device manufacturers.
