If I were a candidate and I was elected, as leader of the free world, first and foremost for national security reasons, after a thorough and comphrehensive review and debate, propose that our energy import policies be built around a maximum energy import limit of 25%.
My energy import objectives would be based on essentially two criteria:
The first, national security.
The second, political influence.
With the 0% to 25% maximum import level I would meet my first objective and at the same time any foreign political influence would be diminished and insignificant.
This would also leave open the opportunity to import some from friends who could use the income.
