Waterford, MI – Obesity is one of the fastest growing epidemics facing our country with Americans spending 5% of their total medical costs on obesity-related illnesses. This amount will only increase as current trends continue. Unfortunately, the obesity epidemic is also hurting children and adolescents at alarming rates, effecting health and quality of life, making them highly susceptible to serious health problems such as diabetes, heart trouble, chronic medical conditions, digestive problems and asthma. Overweight children also suffer emotional problems from low self-esteem, bullying, teasing and depression.
The Juvenile Obesity Prevention Program targets Adolescents 8 – 19 years of age. Big Al’s Promotions is putting on an open-house event in Waterford as they celebrate the grand opening of their new training and fitness facility, fight club Proving Grounds, on February 28, 2009.
At this event, enjoy an evening of Olympic-style boxing, live cage fighting exhibitions, music, food and more. Competition begins at 8:00pm; arrive early to attend the open house of one of the largest and most comprehensive training and fitness facilities in the state of Michigan.
Big Al has arranged for eight-time world champion, Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns to be in attendance, as well as many boxing and MMA’s best, at this Fight for Fitness Grand-Opening celebration. Visit the website, coming soon, at http://www.fightclubgym.com
