Countrywide Home Loans ignores Boxer, Feinstein, and Schwarzenegger

With elected officials and advocacy groups writing to Countrywide on our behalf, they still won't do a realistic loan modification. Next time Countrywide asks for bailout money, they ought to be told what they've told so many of us, Get Lost!

Feb. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- After several months of battling Countrywide Home Loans ourselves, we received help from many elected officials. We have asked for several months that Countrywide Home Loans work with us regarding a loan modification. We quickly began to notice what has been common to many of their customers; phone calls where you get pushed from one customer service agent to another, no information was available regarding the status of our file, and sometimes even hung up on.

Through diligent efforts, we were able to receive help from Sentor's Boxer and Feinstein, our city Mayor, the California Department of Corporations, and Governor Schwarzenegger. After multiple correspondence between elected officials and Countrywide Home Loans, we had finally received a letter. The letter addressed our need for a modification and detailed what was to be offered. The letter also referenced the elected officials who had responded on our behalf. Surely with as many elected officials that we had writing to Countrywide on our behalf, there was going to be a viable solution.

No such luck. The letter contained a modification that Countrywide knew was out of our means (as they had our financials) and listed several representatives of their company that were to have been helping us along. We had never heard nor had we spoken to anyone listed in the letter. It is unbelievable that Countrywide could have the guts to blatantly
lie! It doesn't seem to faze them that elected officials will be told the truth.

Unfortunately, this is the realty for so many of us. Lenders pretend to help the public as if they really care. The irony is that it's all of our taxpayer money that helps fund the bailout which gives lenders the opportunity to turn their backs on us while turning to the government with their hands out.

Next time Countrywide asks for bailout money they ought to be told what they've told their homeowners, "Get Lost!"
