Educated at Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, he interned at the V.A. Hospital at Perry Point, Maryland. He worked as a child psychologist at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia and then began a 38-year career at Elwyn, Inc. in Elwyn, Pennsylvania. He has taught Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College, Penn State extension, and West Chester University. At Elwyn, he served as Director of Psychology, Clinical Director, VP for Development, Assistant to the President and VP for Research. He was Principal Investigator for a follow-up study of persons who left the institution for independent living, started a preschool language program for at-risk three and four year olds, directed a head trauma program, and helped develop a program for emotionally disturbed youngsters in out-of-home placements. While at Elwyn, he authored over 76 professional articles and six college and graduate-level textbooks dealing with mental retardation and rehabilitation of handicapped persons. He has maintained a private practice of psychology for 30 years. He retired from full-time work in January 2002 but returned part-time as a school psychologist at Interboro School District in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He continues his interest in writing and has written six psychology books for secondary school students for Chelsea House Publishers. The three most recently published books are titled Hypnosis and Meditation, Sleep and Dreaming and The Brain and Love. Rosen lives with his wife, Joyce, in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
