The Cairo Jazz Festival (CJF) is being organized by AGWA Productions and is sponsored by the European Union, The Cairo Jazz Club, TRAVCO and Modern Touch(for event planning)
This year’s festival will host Egypt’s front line of jazz artists, including the legendary Yehia Khalil, Grammy Award Winner Fathy Salama, The Riff Band and Wust El Balad, in addition to a host of international jazz musicians on top of which, The virtouso Bulgarian Kaval player, Theodosii Spassov.
Besides the superb concerts, the Cairo Jazz Festival will also be featuring interactive, educational music activities, workshops, Jam sessions and documentaries.
Legendary Egyptian Jazz drummer Yehia Khalil will be inaugurated as a Jazz pioneer during the opening ceremony of Cairo Jazz festival’s 1st edition.
Organizers of the festival stated that one of the main goals of the festival is to appreciate the symbols of Jazz and Music of Egypt and to recognize them in public as pioneers.
Khalil, is known to be one of the Egyptian Jazz pioneers that has contributed since the 70s to popularize Jazz among Egyptians, he had taken place in numerous International festivals and worked together with many great Jazz men of the World.
