Can You Think Outside The Nationalism Box?

We are taught in school to color inside the lines. To mark, check, and punch inside the box. We are also instructed as to what is right and what are the wrong types of behavior. Indeed we are punished or at least criticized if we color over the lines; mark, check, or punch outside the box; or do what is thought to be wrong behavior. Have you ever thought about who sets these standards of behavior? Or is it just a natural law that prevents us from crossing the line? Waaooooo. That’s it. Crossing the line is going into the unknown. Into the forbidden zone where there are strange people, or lions, and tigers, and bears (oh my) that may cause us harm.

In a recent message on my IGoogle start page, under the optional “Einstein Quote of the Day” Gadget, was his quote “Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity [the quality of being calm and even-tempered; composure] opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions”. It is no wonder that creative jobs are often advertised with a statements as: “Applicants Wanted Who Can Think Outside the Box” as there are an abundant number of people who can only act inside the box!

I know this as often when I am writing about a government for the world, I am reminded simply that I have the freedom to write. These reminders come in the emails I receive and are often just after I have made comments like: “The phrase ‘Support Our Troops’ is really just another way of saying ‘Support Our Warriors’ and more simply ‘Support War’”. Yes, there is a price for freedom and the ultimate price is people dying in wars and revolutions. On the righteous side: to win freedom from corrupt social systems, terrorists, drug lords, and dictators and on the wrong side: to keep these corrupt social systems alive and the terrorists, drug lords, and dictators in power. And we know that is not just the warriors who die but also other people living in these areas where these conflicts occur.

It is not that I don’t “Support Our Troops” as I do wish that no harm comes to anyone, however I definitely cannot not support the phrase “Our Country Right Or Wrong” because if a country is wrong, how can anyone with a human conscience support it. From the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary) this “conscience” word means “governed by or conforming to the dictates of conscience: SCRUPULOUS ”.

In another recent “Einstein Quote of the Day” was his message: “Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it”. While my IQ is far less than the genius of Einstein, I do believe that people should be governed first by their own moral principles. For example, shouldn’t every public servant be a conscientious person? And what about those other people in positions of power and trust? Not just public servants (politicians etc), but our business and our spiritual leaders as well. How often do we read about these leaders failing to be conscientious people but victims of their own greed and lust?

Gladly I see that technology has put people on the moon, sent spacecraft to Mars and beyond, and an Internet that allows most everyone to communicate with most anyone in the world and at the same time contain most of human knowledge! However sadly we haven’t had the guts to examine our social systems to find ways to make these systems work for all the people on Earth.  I know we are indoctrinated from birth to be loyal (and without question) to our schools, our sports teams, our religious beliefs, and the nation where we live (or the one that we are came from). However this system of independent nations, continuing wars, and terrorism is not working and will probably lead to the eventual extinction of most if not all life on this planet.

So I am asking you to think of yourself first as a human being than secondarily as a citizen of a nation or a member of a religious or any other group of people.  And now that you are thinking outside the nationalism or religious or any other group box, let me ask you what human rights should be afforded to all the people on this planet? I know there is a tendency to judge people on their social status, skin color, their religious beliefs, or where they live however try not to prejudge everyone according to these false standards. Shouldn’t every human being have the right to live their lives with the freedom from the lack of basic needs? I mean shouldn’t every person on Earth get at least enough to eat and clean water to drink every day? Of course to answer these questions will require thinking outside the box to find solutions to these problems. And no, I am not talking about a government giving these things freely to people (as I am often accused) as government should be doing only what it is supposed to be doing: providing for a safe and just social system. And the problems facing the human race are way more complex than just seeing that everyone has the minimum amount of daily food and water. How can the human race solve the dilemma of continuing wars and terrorism before the human race becomes extinct?

Our medical scientists are already working on finding cures for cancer, AIDS, heart disease, and most other diseases.  Why not let our social scientists propose a social system that will solve the problems of war and terrorism?

I am one such Social Scientist. Least by my formal education as I was awarded a degree in the Social Sciences a long time ago (I am retired now).  And as a Social Scientist I have proposed the creation of a Untied Free Nations Organization (UFNO.org) starting with those nations who will subscribe to a standard of basic human rights for all people and will also combine their armies into a United Free Nations Organization Police Force.

If you take the structure of the United States of America as an example, you will find there are no states within that are having wars with other states. This is because there is a constitution, a national army that would intervene if there were any such wars, and a judicial system that is used to resolve any issues or problem that may occur between states. Now if we apply this same social system to all the nations of the world, i.e. having worldwide laws against war and terrorism (a constitution), giving the UFNO a police force to enforce these laws, and a judicial system that will allow the individual nations to address their grievances without war, won’t the human race be better off?

In making these statements, I am often called a foolish dreamer, a Don Quixote (the literary chaser of windmills), and a parasite who just wants to live off Big government.  However these labels do not serve the truth as I have not said “The End Is Near” nor proposed a revolution against any government, I have only suggested that we evolve beyond our current nation/state identities and apply the laws, justice and freedoms we hold so dear to all the people of the world!

If you can think outside the nationalism box and would like to make a difference in the outcome of the long term survival of the human race, then join the World Peace Political Party (W3P.info)! In addition to registering to vote as a member of the World Peace Political Party, you can encourage others to join too. Or maybe just start a dialoge about the future of the human race and how can major social problems be solved. And you can attend the upcoming G8 confernce in July in Italy and suggest that these world leaders stongly consider a new world government. The least you can do for the human race is to make some affirmative actions towards World Peace Thru World Law, generous donations, and constructive comments via email as these are most welcomed!
