FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 14, 2009 -
United States, -- Debatepedia - a project of the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) and known as “the Wikipedia of debate” - recently completed the world’s most comprehensive pro/con article on the debate surrounding the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. At this stage, the resource draws from over 60 pro and con editorials and opinion articles from newspapers and journals worldwide, distilling the arguments and quotations found in each editorial into 33 pros and 38 cons common to the Guantanamo debate.

The completion of this extensive resource comes following the decision by newly inaugurated President Barack Obama to close the facility by executive order on January 21, 2009. Debatepedia hopes its article will help clarify for the world public the arguments that have been involved in the debate since the inception of the facility through its planned closure at the end of 2009. With so many important national security and international legal issues at stake, Debatepedia’s volunteer editors believe it is critical that citizens understand the arguments involved and develop full -bodied positions.
