Bellingham, WA: At the recent Northwest AIA Design Awards, recognizing excellence in architecture in the Northwest Region, Greg Robinson, AIA, LEED AP, in-house architect for the Cascade Joinery, received 2 awards for a house he designed on Blakely Island. This island retreat won both a Citation Award and the Glen Hunt Award which recognizes the seamless integration between Landscape and Architecture. The judges admired the flow and design of the home and the way it fit into its setting. The jury also commented on the outstanding execution and craftsmanship of the timber frame and finished home.
Jury comments: "Very Natural landscaping combining boulders and indigenous planting materials work wonderfully with this classic timber-framed house. The thoughtfully planned landscape sets off approaches to the house and is even integrated with the architecture where boulders form the bases of peeled log columns. Superb craftsmanship on the house completes a very coherent composition."
John Miller, CEO of the Cascade Joinery said “We are proud to have Greg as a key member of our team. I think that being a two time Glen Hunt Award winner shows Greg’s talent for designing homes that fit their site in a harmonious way.”
