LabAct is an educational management program using Improv Theater to explore problems and solutions to common lab situations. The acclaimed LabAct training offers insight into professional issues that are rarely discussed in the open. The dramatization of these issues ensures that you will laugh and learn at the same time.
Whether you're a new manager or a seasoned pro, Lab Manager Boot Camp offers lab professionals with the management skills and tools needed to succeed — things they didn't teach you in chemistry class.
Held at the 2009 Pittcon event in Chicago, Lab Manager Boot Camp will cover a variety of topics relating to laboratory management including communication, leadership, ethics, innovation, best practices, and health and safety.
Course instructor John C. Galland, Ph.D. is Director of the UC Davis Laboratory Management Institute. LMI creates educational programs that help researchers acquire managerial skills using a pedagogy that includes assistance by theatre professionals. Dr. Galland also teaches a graduate course in Philosophy and Ethics for the Biological Scientist. Previously, as Professor of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University, he taught public health and conducted research on food borne pathogens.
