Feb. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Mondo International, Inc a worldwide company providing logistics, transportation and distribution services in Afghanistan was featured in an exclusive report for the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. The report by Sheila MacVicar on February 6 focused on the need for a new NATO supply route and aired on the same week Taliban militants blew up a vital bridge along the Khyber pass between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In the report, CBS News featured Mondo International’s Senior Vice President Kevin Curtis discussing the immediate need for a new alternate northern route into Afghanistan due to increased violence along the existing route. To demonstrate the results of these brutal attacks and costly theft of supplies by CBS video showed U.S. military equipment for sale on the open market in the Pakistani border town of Peshawar.

CBS also aired video of Mondo International’s fuel carrying logistics trucks along the Khyber Pass on their way to the safe delivery of their cargo to U.S. operations. “Mondo has an acute understanding of the culture, customs and practices of the region which has lead to our 98% success rate in delivery. We are thrilled that CBS News approached us and values our insights and expertise in this region of the world” said Tommy Hakimi, CEO of Mondo International, Inc.

Mondo International, Inc is currently a designated Prime Vendor for the U.S. Department of Defense and Defense Logistics Agency and operates over 600 trucks in Afghanistan. The company has been a long standing proponent of a new northern supply route into Afghanistan.

The exclusive report shed light on the growing problem of Taliban militants gaining excess to extremely sophisticated technologies meant for U.S. troops. “There is nothing more important to Mondo International than the safe, secure and timely delivery of the necessary supplies into Afghanistan. While a new supply route will be difficult to secure, but it is possible and likely with diplomatic negotiations” says Kevin Curtis, SVP of Mondo International.
