Ferndale, Mich. Feb. 6, 2009--In this economy it's crucial for a company to truly believe in their goals or they'll never survive. With the new administration and the country as a whole making an effort to live more "greenly," it only seems right that a new company should hold eco-friendly ideals at the heart of their operation. One such green-impassioned company is The Night Move shuttle service. Though it launched four months ago, today the Night Move, LLC, announced several new features that will make green public transportation an accessible solution for metro Detroiters. The Night Move is a biodiesel-fueled shuttle serving Royal Oak, Ferndale and Detroit on Fridays and Saturdays. Night Move founder Chris Ramos hopes the new offerings will solve any hesitation people may have had about riding. Ramos says, "We've always said we're doing this for the community. We've felt the need for public transportation for too long, and we want to make this as user-friendly and accessible as we possibly can." Despite opening in November, says Ramos, "This feels like a grand opening. We're practically a brand-new company."
New features to be introduced by the Night Move in the coming weeks include:
- The ability to buy seats as passengers board the bus. They can still book online ahead of time at http://www.TheNightMove.com/
- An earlier start time. The bus will now run from 6pm to 3am, to accommodate attendees of sporting events, concerts and dinners uptown and downtown.
- GPS tracking of the bus' location, available for viewing by computer, iPhone or Blackberry at http://Instamapper.com/
- The launch of a new website at http://www.TheNightMove.com with increased usability.
Public transportation is necessary for a renaissance in southeast Michigan. Ramos and his company are taking steps in that direction by offering an affordable, accessible option for getting from city to city.
