Dr. Tom Horan, Director of Claremont Graduate University’s Kay Center for E-Health Research, believes that the real need for online medical records needs to fall into the hands of the uninsured and community clinics which serve this population.
“Research has shown that people who have more information about their health will make more healthy decisions,” Horan said. “Therefore, the power of the internet should be used to serve patients who need it the most.”
Digitizing health records would give Americans access to their medical files, which are mostly stored on paper, Horan said. By making health records digital, it would save time, money and lives, in reducing errors such as poor handwriting.
The Kay Center for E-Health research is based at CGU’s School of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences.
