Follow on Google News | Solution to Sagging Music SalesWant to sell more of your music? Read below.
By: brent doerner I've been reading about how the music industry is slowly going down the toilet. It's in the news is everywhere, and it's not really news anymore. Declining CD sales, record stores closing etc. is common place, so I got to thinking. There are literally millions of bands out there and related music professionals all trying to sell their product. If every musician would support their own industry by purchasing music themselves, the slump could be over. I mean, everybody's selling but nobody's buying (or the vast majority in my opinion). My solution to the problem: If every musician out there were to spend let's say $5.00 a week on other artists music - we'd all see an upturn in the industry. For struggling musicians on a tight budget: spend .99 per week. One song per week! A pack of gum costs more, but it doesn't last as long. ITunes, Napster etc. make it possible to purchase music with a couple of mouse clicks. I couldn't get any easier. I'd bet if I asked musicians in my corner of the world, how many digital downloads or CD's have they purchased in the past four weeks, many would say none. I'd bet on it. The problem is there's millions of corners on the planet. Still, musicians continue to mope around asking themselves why people aren't buying. Musicians and industry people are the people that aren't buying! It's the old "Do nothing - get nothing" senario. But in this case it's "Buy nothing - sell nothing". Is it just stupid pride or ego getting in the way of purchasing another artists music? So you'd like to see more sales, eh? Well then, set up a free account with any one of the many digital download sites, search for new and exciting stuff, and click on the "BUY NOW" icon. Yes, it is still possible to get excited about another artists recordings. Really. Want sales? Do something about it. Buy. # # # Three former helix members have joined together to create "my wicked twin" - are preparing to release a cd in january 2009. End
