Gis4Girl, an online clothing retailer, announced this week the launch of its online store for tween girls, www.gis4girl.com. The company’s goal is to provide girls aged 9 to 14 with apparel that is both fashionable and positive.
“Our designs are meant to be hip, fun and inspiring,” said Erin Boudreau, Gis4Girl’s founder and lead designer. “Many products marketed to girls these days are provocative and sexual in nature. We want to provide girls and their parents with a fresh alternative.”
Some of the designs take a popular phrase and give it a positive spin. Examples include, “You Grow Girl,” “Super Role Model,” and “Inner Beauty Queen.” Boudreau’s inspiration hits close to home.
“Having a daughter really made me look around and take notice of what girls are wearing,” she said. “In talking to other mothers, I realized there is a demand for more positive choices for girls to wear.”
Products available include t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tank tops and even bags. The company mainly targets the tween set, or girls aged 9 to 14, but some designs are available in sizes ranging from infants to women.
“Some of our products have a broad appeal that extends to other age groups,” Boudreau said. “We thought we would make some designs, such as our Sm;)e tees available in adult sizes.”
All apparel will be manufactured and distributed by Cafepress.com, a leading print-on-demand clothing provider.
