The agreement, effective tomorrow, grants Nippon News rights to distribute content on behalf of Japan Today.
Under the agreement, news and feature stories and images downloadable at high resolution from Japan Today, will be viewable by all media via the Nippon News website at www.nipponnews.net.
Nippon News founder and director Laurent Benchana said he expected increased traffic to the agency’s news site as well as greater demand for downloadable content as a result of this agreement.
“Since its foundation in 2002, Nippon News has adopted and maintained a leading approach in offering complete news and features to international media about topics not traditionally covered by Japan-based media,” said Mr Benchana.
In 2006, the Nippon News website was overhauled to streamline the content selection process for registered users. Since then, the site’s development has continued to grow.
Both Nippon News and Japan Today offer niche reports on topics that include politics, sports, current affairs, industry, automotive, banking, arts and entertainment.
“The agreement with Japan Today illustrates an important milestone that Nippon News has achieved after intense development over the past few years,” said Mr Benchana.
The Nippon News website will also offer RSS feeds for Japan Today content updated daily.
