Solar-Powered, Interactive Event to Feature Planet-Friendly Videos from Non-Profits, Government Agencies, Socially-Responsible Companies, Individuals & Communities.

Feb. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- For more than 66 years, Ad Council PSAs have been raising awareness, inspiring action and saving lives in issue areas such as improving the quality of life for children, preventive health, education, community well-being, strengthening families, and environmental preservation. With the growing interest in environmental issues, the Ad Council's work in helping protect the planet through the power of Public Service Advertising has taken on more importance than ever.

Now for the first time, a collection of the Ad Council’s environmental PSAs will be presented together in a special micro-site created by EarthDayWebcast.com, home of the world’s first interactive Earth Day video event. The 4-month long, 100% solar-powered experience is designed to bring the world's eco-conscious community together in service to the planet – and is a co-production of Eco-Active Media, Inc. and GreenPlanetSearch.com, a new eco-search engine and green portal site which is making its official launch on Earth Day (April 22) 2009.

Described as the “Ultimate Green Digital Media / Marketing Event,” the Earth Day Webcast will take place from March 22 through July 22, 2009, with special live streaming Earth Day programming on the week of Earth Day (April 22). The Webcast will feature state-of-the-art graphics and environmentally-oriented videos and PSAs from around the globe.

According to Peter Einstein, Chief Creative Officer and Co-CEO of Eco-Active Media, “Each video will represent a contribution to the health and sustainable future of the planet – sharing the sense of purpose, commitment, and global community that inspired the original Earth Day 39 years ago.”

Einstein, a former New York advertising creative director, describes the Earth Day Webcast’s mission as "more than simply raising awareness of the critical environmental issues we face and the many challenges ahead. It’s about highlighting the positive impact of individual and collective actions – while promoting the tireless work of environmental groups who are fighting to save our planet. The Ad Council and its environmental campaigns are an important part of that fight, and it’s our honor to acknowledge them for the work they do.”

The state-of-the-art, fully-flash-driven webcast site is described as a “planet-friendly, graphically-enhanced YouTube on organic steroids" by award-winning web developer Michael Haney, President of Green Planet Search, who designed the Ad Council micro-site as well as the EarthDayWebcast.com.

According to Eco-Active Media President, Co-CEO, Peter Insalaco, "EarthDayWebcast.com will provide a powerful global platform for sharing ideas about sustainable living. We encourage the advertising and marketing communities to take advantage of this opportunity to tell the world how much they care for the planet.”

In addition to user-generated content contributed by non-profits and green-minded individuals, the Earth Day Webcast will broadcast video messages from socially-responsible businesses, "green" marketers, media companies, alternative energy suppliers, schools, students, local communities, governmental leaders and agencies, as well as leading authors, scientists, and celebrities.

To help promote this unique initiative to today’s most eco-conscious consumers, the producers of the Earth Day Webcast have been actively forging relationships with many leading environmental non-profits, including two of the Ad Council’s current clients, Environmental Defense and EarthShare – a non-profit federation which recently invited over 400 of the most respected eco-groups to participate in the Webcast.

Many other environmental organizations, including The Climate Project (Al Gore’s foundation), 1% For the Planet, and the Rainforest Alliance, are expected to be participating in and promoting the Webcast. (Updates on participating organizations available.)

While there's no fee for submitting videos under 5 minutes in length (individuals, non-profits and businesses simply need to register as a contributor), EarthDayWebcast.com will offer a select group of marketers the opportunity to raise their green profiles substantially by sponsoring the overall site or specific video categories.

Sponsorship of the 2009 Earth Day Webcast will guarantee right-of-first-refusal for a sponsorship position in the 40th Anniversary Earth Day 2010 Webcast.
