Each night, millions of children struggle to fall asleep because they suffer from bedtime fears and anxiety. As a result, both kids and their parents fail to get the necessary sleep that all healthy humans require. To help them fight this nightly battle, authors David and Seth Bier introduce the children’s book Bedtime with Rollo the NightSpryte™

“Early Childhood Development experts say that nearly 50% of children between the ages of two and eight experience bedtime fears. They are quick to note that not only are these fears natural, but they may actually signal advancement in cognitive skills,” explains Seth. “While that may be comforting to parents, it is of little or no help to the millions of frightened children out there. David and I were two of those millions of children that suffered from bedtime anxiety, and we became determined to tackle this chronic issue.”
Experts prescribe a three-pronged remedy: 1) Empower your kids rather than dismiss their fears; 2) Create a routine that centers around reading a bedtime story; and 3) Provide your child with a favorite ‘comforting object’ or talisman.
The Bier Brothers applied this model to their Sweet Dreams Gift Set. The set centers around the the 24-page picture book in which their innovative approach to storytelling unfolds. They spin their tale with a back-and-forth between the narrator and the characters in graphic novel-style, while maintaining a rhyming rhythm reminiscent of the classic nursery tales.
The story begins with Mom announcing “It’s Bedtime!’, which sends her kids, Gabby and Leon, into hysterics. Mom and Dad know just what to do. They tuck in the twins and leave them with a magical box. Suddenly the box pops open and a blue creature springs out. It flew through air too fast to follow, it landed and said, “I’m a NightSpryte, name’s Rollo.”
Rollo’s fun, matter-of-fact approach to dealing with childhood fears gives Gabby and Leon all the tools they need to combat their vivid imaginations. And just in case, Rollo is there, ready to assist them.
Just as in the book, parents can read the story out loud at bedtime, tuck their child in, kiss him or her goodnight, turn out the lights, wish them ‘Sweet Dreams’, and leave their little loved one in the capable hands of a professional -- Rollo the NightSpryte.
