NYC Retired Fireman TOP TEN Finalist in the Lenox Extra Mile Hero Contest

In 2008, LENOX officially kicked off the LENOX Extra Mile Hero Program with NASCAR driver Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 LENOX Chevrolet, by asking customers to submit stories of people they considered heroes.

Sal was a New York City Fireman for 26 years, who came out of retirement to help at Ground Zero on September 11th. at 67 years old, He worked long hours at the World Trade Center site helping the people he spent his career working with.  

One year ago, his daughter wrote an essay for the contest, describing the hero that Sal has always been. This essay won him a spot as one of the top ten finalists in the Lenox Industrial Tools, Extra Mile Hero Contest. Public voting began on February 1st, 2009 and runs until April 30th, 2009. The Grand Finalist will be announced at the race in New Hampshire on June 28th, 2009.
