Today the Longest Way Home released a version of it's travel journal / blog specifically for the sight impaired.
Image free, the blog separates from the rest of the sites style. Using large easy to read fonts on high contrast colors the blog provides easy reading for those with a visual or reading impairment.
Each blog entry also includes a listen live podcast that is automatically created with each post. The podcasts can be listened to while on the site, or downloaded for off line listening.
Likewise on the websites popular stories page select travelogues now have online listening podcasts, and downloadable podcasts. Also included are free e-books that can be read by various text to voice software applications.
The Longest Way Home hopes that by providing those with sight impairments or reading difficulties additional options, people can benefit from from reading and listening to a travel journal about guy traveling the world in search of home. While also benefiting from travel stories about real people, real places from around the world in the stories section.
Low on resources, it's hoped further improvements to this new addition will come over time.
