In celebration of their first year of services, and to celebrate the expansion of the largely expanded auditorium, New Season Church announced the event with yard signs, and invited the mayor of Hiram to speak. Just a year ago, the New Season church started with a small group of 40 people that met for three months in a small room on campus before they kicked off the new Church in February. Although almost 400 people from all over the country attended the grand opening, the church soon had 100, then 200 to 400 and now over 500 attending regularly – just a year later. The celebration was called 'Victory Bowl' and was attended by 735 people at both services. The auditorium now seats 500, and New Season Church is prepared to add a third service when it becomes necessary sometime this year.
The First Anniversary Celebration was certainly a Victory Bowl for New Season Church with 25 people accepting Christ and re-dedicating their lives to him. According to lead Pastor, Steve Flockhart, it couldn't get any better than this with the community coming out to support the new church, and with so many lives changed in just this one service. New Season Church recognized almost 30 first time visiting families with welcome packets that include a coffee mug, church information and kid's meal coupons to local restaurants.
The Victory Bowl took on the feel of a real Super Bowl with a service pre-show, Victory Bowl commercials, exciting music, and an encouraging pep talk from the mayor of Hiram. The services were inspiring, and as a result many lives were changed, and decisions made. Guests and members were invited to stay for a meal that hundreds enjoyed and consumed 1,000 hot-dogs, side dishes and lots of cake!
According to Steven Flockhart, the reason for the tremendous growth of New Season Church is that here people get to experience a warm and friendly environment. People can dress how they would like, grab a complimentary cup of warm coffee or hot cocoa at our coffee bar that they can enjoy during the service. Children participate in exciting events and lessons that include music that they love and games they want to participate in. Sometimes it's hard to pull the kids away from the kids area after the services, and they always want to come back. That's not all, the sermons at New Season Church are very energetic and inspiring with interesting dramas, props and takeaways that people remember all week.
Steven Flockhart's sermons are 'life changing'. They are always inspiring, but they are easily applied to situations that people are currently dealing with. They are relevant, and easy to understand. No one ever feels like they didn't 'get' something – that it was over there head, and no one ever feels talked down to. Listening to Steve Flockhart is like listening to a friend in your living room who is truly excited about his life changing message. And people can relate to Steve because there are not many experiences people could share that Steve has not himself dealt with himself at some time in his life. Steve was not raised in a challenging environment and did not experience a 'relationship with God' until he was an adult, but when he did, his life was radically changed. Steve shares from his life experiences, and on all kinds of topics such as depression, financial challenge, addictions, family issues and blended families, just to name a few. People receive insight on how to successfully deal with all of lives challenges in a powerful, positive, productive way.
