Sydney boot camp instructor Dan Clay has information every dieter needs to know: Starvation diets do not work, so don’t bother. Clay warns those wanting to lose weight fast and drastically reduce their calorie intake are asking for serious trouble.
“Diets just don’t work.” Clay was quoted as saying. “People must come to grips with the fact losing weight is going to take hard work, discipline, patience and a plan based on science, not guesswork.”
Clay is constantly educating his personal training and boot camp clients about sound nutritional habits and exercise. “If it was easy, everyone would have 6 pack abs”, He explained. “As boot camp instructors we seem to fight an uphill battle. Everyone wants the results, but few are willing to do the work.”
To help make losing weight the “right way” easier, Clay recommends the following tips:
1) Create a realistic plan. The focus of which should be sound nutritional habits and regular exercise.
2) It’s crucial to weight loss success to not to have “trigger” foods lying around – the temptation is often too great. Remove from the home any leftover holiday “treats” that will lead to the eating of unnecessary calories.
3) Enlist the help of a friend and encourage one another. Be sure this weight loss “buddy” is as equally determined.
4) Most importantly, be realistic. Excess pounds do not come on overnight. They do off overnight either.
