John Fielder, Celebrated Colorado Photographer, To Participate in Shot! Magazine’s February Show

Feb. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Shot! Magazine is thrilled to announce that acclaimed photographers John Fielder and Richard Peterson will attend the magazine’s February gallery show in Denver.  Fielder, well-known for his large format photography of Colorado’s landscape and nature, has published 38 books in his career and his latest, Colorado 1870-2000, is Colorado’s highest selling book ever.  Peterson is best known for his eclectic and stylish photography as well as his documentation of bands like the Sex Pistols and Talking Heads in the 1970s.  

Fielder and Peterson will be displaying their own work alongside the work of The Photo Martini Club members.  Shot! Magazine, the bi-monthly publication of Photo Martini Club, asks members to interpret different themes through their photography.  February’s theme is “Ullr (Norse God of Snow)/The Snow Issue”.  

“Having John Fielder and Richard Peterson attend our February show is a huge demonstration of support for both the publication and The Photo Martini Club,” says Andrea Sowell, founder and publisher of both Shot! Magazine and The Photo Martini Club.  “It will be a privilege for our members to be able to exhibit their own work with two such distinguished and talented photographers.”

The show will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2009 at Reed Photo Art Gallery, located in the heart of Denver’s ArtDistrict on Santa Fe.  In addition to the fine photography, entertainment will include DJ’s, light snacks and networking.  Admission is free.
Sowell says, “The night will be packed full of special art you can buy your sweetheart, networking, kissing, snacks, and more!”

About Shot! Magazine, The Photo Martini Club and Gallery Photo Martini Club

Founded in 2003 by Andrea Sowell, The Photo Martini Club, LLC has grown to include more than 450 professional and novice photographers.  Established as a way to give local photographers a purpose for their creativity, the group sponsors monthly shows of work focused around a central them.  These different topics are determined via club vote.  Past show themes include: Rhythm; In the Spirit of Jack Kerouac; Voyeurism; Artopia; Shadows; and many more. In December of 2007, Shot! Magazine (A Photo Martini Club Publication) made its debut.  Dedicated to photography and the arts, the publication highlights The Photo Martini Club member talent.  Shot! Magazine contains rich photographs, articles and exposés on some of Denver's finest organizations.  Published every other month, SHOT! Magazine’s theme coincides with the current The Photo Martini assignment and gallery show. With over 10,000 copies distributed (not including subscriptions), SHOT! Magazine can be found in museums, galleries, coffee shops and other fine establishments around the Denver area.

Gallery Photo Martini Club, located at 3920 Tennyson Street in the Tennyson Arts District, opened in January 2009.  Displaying art by Photo Martini Club members only, the Gallery is another venue for highlighting members’ talents.  In addition, the Gallery space is available for special events and parties on an hourly rental basis.  A unique feature of the space is an in-house studio with tungsten lighting, chroma screen and seamless backgrounds.  Use of this studio space is open to the public for a minimal fee.
