After the igniting a new era on January 21, 2009 upon their return to the USA, The Trail of Dreams World Peace Walkers, an international outreach program of the Spirit of Truth Foundation, started their march for freedom, hope, equality, justice and peace in NY, moving by storm through the UN, Newark, Baltimore and Philadelphia where prayers for the City of Brotherly Love touched many including Mothers in Charge, a local group of mothers who lost their children to violence. The walk will move into the Capital City on February 20, 2009. Beginning with a Intergenerational Peace Gathering at the Peace Room located at Perry School 128 M St. NW Washington, Dc 20001, the walk continues on its journey through four more major cities back to the King Center in Atlanta where it started over three years ago..
M.J. Parks, co-founder says “Adults can join children in learning peacemaking skills to solve problems non-violently. Our program focuses on peace beginning with self and learning to live peacefully at home, school and neighborhood.”
At 8pm on Friday will be a “Artist for Peace Sake’ Benefit Concert, at University of District of Columbia on Friday which includes a commanding line-up of performing artists: Nataska Hummingbird, Maimouna Youssef, and Navasha Daya of the Internationally acclaimed group Fertile Ground, Cheri Maree, Andaiye, Mikuak Rai, Ras D, J. Plunky Branch of the legendary Afro-funk Jazz group.
The Walk-a-Long activities continue with an Interfaith Ceremony at St Stephens Church, 1525 Newton St NW at 7pm, the event which will continue the walks’ initiatives and mission bridging the gap between all cultures and faiths will be co-hosted with United Religious Initiatives of Washington, DC, 20,000 Dialogues, DC Parliament of World Religion and the Washington DC Steering Group.
