Temahome Unveils “the Lisbon Collection”

PR Log (Press Release) – Feb 09, 2009 – TemaHome, looking to further establish its view and identity in line with its Portuguese roots, is introducing a new line of fine design furniture, entitled The Lisbon Collection.

At present made up of five distinct items, every single piece in the collection is exclusive in the purest sense of the word. Produced in limited quantities, all items are numbered and bear the signature of a well established Portuguese designer. They are: Handle stools by Fernando Brizio, Tavares chair by Marco Sousa Santos, Furoshiki rug and Scatola Armonica, both by Miguel Vieira Baptista, and the Gem table by Filipe Alarcão .

The Lisbon Collection is an expression of contemporary art representing the multiple talents of the modern Portuguese soul. To celebrate and promote this collection, Lisbon was aptly chosen as the background to depict the fusion between Fashion and Product design. Each of the 5 unique pieces featured on a photograph at a different landmark in Lisbon, beside a model wearing creations signed by the cream of Portuguese Fashion Design.

In order to capture the blend between these two branches of lifestyle as seamlessly as possible, TemaHome called upon Portugal’s outstanding fashion producer Paulo Gomes, who personally handpicked some of the city’s iconic locations and the models - commissioned by LightModels -  to be captured through the lens of Carlos Ramos, Portugal’s leading Fashion photographer.

Promotion for The Lisbon Collection has taken off at the IMM Cologne Show, receiving excellent reviews from customers and the media. The Handle stools were particularly strong attention grabbers, and the high quality of both the manufacturing and design of the items was the central line of talk.

Initially founded in 1981 by Norwegians and Portuguese investors, the company became the Portuguese reference in furniture design in 2007 when it successfully gathered the best names in Portuguese design to develop its new
collections under the TemaHome brand.

Today, TemaHome products can be found in over 1300 retailers across 43 countries, delivering an image of contemporary living that crosses cultural borders. The company is often referenced as an example of sustainable furniture due to the hollow construction of its wooden products and its constant concern with the environment.

With a production facility of 17000 sq2t and 190 employees, the company produces an excess of 90,000 items monthly making it the largest furniture exporter in Portugal.
