The fight, which is a title eliminator, will be aired by HBO and though this is a tremendous opportunity it is with great regret that I must decline this match.”
“The fans of boxing deserve the best matches possible and though I have maintained a constant presence in the gym I feel that 7 days is not ample time to cut weight, receive the proper sparring and make technical adjustments. Based on this I do not feel that I would be prime to give fight fans the type of fight they deserve.”
