Amazon Apart Hotel in Iquitos, Peru has announced the construction of an additional 36 new rooms.
The new facility have 8 floors and over 1200 square meters ( 13,000 square feet) of space making it the second tallest building in Iquitos. Besides the 36 new rooms, the new facility will have a new reception area, a meeting area, internet cafe, an expanded resturant, and a rooftop bar.
Each modern room will be well lit and have over 170 square feet of space.
"I think it's great this is happening in Iquitos," said Milagros Tuesta, president of Amazon Apart Hotels. "It puts a brighter spotlight on tourism in Iquitos."
"We are trying to make the new facility as environmentally friendly as possible" said Milagros. "so the hot water for the hotel will be heated by solar powered heaters."
The expected price point will be about $50 per night, putting Amazon Apart Hotels in competition with other top-tier hotels.
The expansion will also create new jobs for the area, Tuesta said.
