Miss Teen Pike Co. - World, Jasmine Hall
As the deadline for crowning local title holders approaches (February 28th) the Miss Teen Kentucky-World organization is, over the next three weeks, selecting the final area representatives to compete for the title of Miss Teen Kentucky on March 28th 2009 in Somerset Kentucky, at the Center for Rural Development. Jasmine Kalia Hall, of Pike County, Kentucky, this week, was awarded the title of Miss Teen Pike Co.-World. Jasmine is a Senior at Phelps High School. She likes to model and act. She is on the basketball team, volleyball team, cheer leading squad, dance team, and the softball team at Phelps High School. She enjoys reading, swimming, and spending time with her friends. Jasmine recently drafted legislation that would allow Kentucky students to be able to use KEES money to begin taking college courses while in high school. This bill will soon go to committee and Jasmine will testify, before the committee, about how education will allow people of our area to escape the vicious cycle of poverty that traps so many. Jasmine is also responsible for organizing her school division of Women's Build (Habitat for Humanity) which uses females to construct part of a home. She also started a program that collects household items for those new homeowners.
As a part of being Miss Teen Pike Co. -World, Jasmine will take requests for appearances around the Pike County area. Appearance requests may be made for Miss Teen Pike Co. -World as well as all area representatives, by contacting the Miss Teen Kentucky-World organization at appearances@
Lisa Clark, the Executive Director of Miss Teen Kentucky-World and Miss Kentucky US International says it is a great honor to be selected as an area representative. "This is an historical event for the Teen Kentucky-World program", says Clark, "It is the first year we have brought the Teen World system to Kentucky. This has become a very large, talked about event, and all representatives of areas throughout the region will be recorded and displayed throughout the years, as the first area title holders in the history of this Kentucky pageant.
