Cross-Ables, an event management and communications specialist, announced today that it will host The Small Business Survival Skills Forum in Memphis, on March 11, 2009. The event will serve as a kickoff to a series of similar events that the company will offer across the Southeastern United States throughout 2009.
Small businesses, which the federal government classifies as companies with 500 or fewer employees, make up an integral cross-section of American commerce. Ninety-nice percent of employer firms are small businesses, and collectively, they pay almost half of U.S. private payroll taxes, and provide for nearly a third of U.S. export value according to federal government statistics.
The Small Business Survivor Skills Forum will feature sessions that offer solutions to the biggest issues facing owners today. The sessions will be led by local business owners who have excelled in dealing with problems such as employee benefits, accounting principles, customer retention, and adapting business plans to survive the current downturn. Additionally, there will be industry specific breakout sessions sponsored by local providers. The workshops will allow attendees to practically apply lessons learned during the morning sessions that target professional service firms, retail organizations, and the restaurant industry.
"We are bringing the principles of high level business education to small business owners," said Richard Cross, Managing Partner of Cross-Ables, based in Oxford, MS. "We all learn best when we listen to the people who are practitioners, and by bringing together business owners with other business owners, we will be able to offer solutions to small businesses that are struggling right now."
