Lionsgate Films will publicize MADEA GOES TO JAIL's launch on February 20 at the opening of the one woman show THE MAKING OF A MULATTO on February 8 at Sunset Gardner stages, 1501 N. Gardner Street at Sunset Blvd. Under the cross marketing partnership, theatre goers attending Juliette Fairley's performance in The MAKING OF A MULATTO will receive posters, t-shirts and other promotional items featuring the new Tyler Perry film, in which Madea goes to jail. In turn, the Lionsgate publicity firm Terry Hines & Associates is promoting the solo show about interracial marriages at various events in Los Angeles with flyer distribution and email blasts.
"This is a major breakthrough for me as a solo actress to receive the opportunity to piggyback with a Tyler Perry production. I am thrilled that theatregoers who attend my show will receive a gift bag from LionsGate throughout my 3 month run," said Juliette Fairley, creator, producer and performer of THE MAKING OF A MULATTO, while taking a break from final rehearsals this week.
Based on Perry's successful stage play, TYLER PERRY'S MADEA GOES TO JAIL is written and directed by Tyler Perry. The film is produced Reuben Cannon. The joint marketing venture was initiated by Terry Hines & Associates in Burbank, California.
The Making of a Mulatto is about an Afro-American G.I. who marries a white French woman during the height of the Civil Rights movement and the back end of the Nazi invasion of France. In the show, which features her parent's love story, Miss Fairley juxtaposes fascism with the Jim Crow laws of the South.
