The Collective Renaissance Guild (CRG) continued to show why "Philanthropy is the New Black" by introducing entertainment and intellect to the Power Generation (formerly known as the Hip Hop Generation). Conversations and Cocktails: An Intimate Evening w/ Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra was held at the prestigious Woodruff Arts Center on Friday, January 30, 2009.
One hundred (100) of CRG's privy guests including: hip hop artists, corporate executives, and political figures enjoyed sounds from Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The nine-time Grammy award winner performed melodic works from legendary composers such as Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington, and Louis Armstrong. Immediately following, guests assembled along with the evening sponsor Brand Banking for an exclusive cocktail reception that featured a Q&A session moderated by Celebrity Personality Kenny Burns.
Terrinee Briggs, Chairman of the CRG Board best summarized the evening stating, "The lives of the Power Generation attendees were noticeably impacted by the talent and intellect of Mr. Wynton Marsalis. It is apparent to me that music and the arts are key to bridging the gap between generations, and CRG will work even harder to ensure that music and the arts are more utilized to shape the lives young and old."
